DAVID SAVAGE

David Savage is a NYC-based TV and documentary producer, film journalist, programmer and writer-director who programs screenings of original-format films at leading repertory cinemas and movie theaters.

Film screening events include: A week-long career retrospective of independent film pioneer PAUL BARTEL (1938-2000), in film and exhibition, at Anthology Film Archives and Patrick Parrish Gallery in New York City, 35mm screenings and Q&As, October 13-19, 2017.

 

35mm screenings and panel discussion of the drive-in classics EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC (1977), REMOTE CONTROL (1988) and THE CHILDREN (1980) at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Brooklyn in August, May and January, 2017; a 3-film retrospective in tribute to cult director Jeff Lieberman in 2012, and in 2016 a rare 35mm revival screening and panel discussion of Bernardo Bertolucci's LA LUNA (1979), both at Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan.

He has also brought programs to Spectacle Theater, Brooklyn and collaborated with the Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre in Jersey City.

 

Since 2011 he has been involved with the analog filmmaking workshop and expanded cinema group Mono No Aware.


He has been a journalist for over 25 years for such publications as Cinema Retro, Index magazine, Vanity Fair, and others.

 

David is also an emerging screenwriter and filmmaker. He is currently in development on his first narrative feature, for which he wrote the screenplay.
