A DUAL EVENT PROJECT COMBINING ART AND FILM

As Delphine Kreuter is still relatively unknown in the United States, this project aims to introduce in a dual event her work as both a photographer and filmmaker.

The scope of the exhibition is a mid-career retrospective, spanning from 1997- present. The dual event includes wall groupings of her large-scale photography, video projections and screenings of her two feature films over a 2-night period, followed by a post-screening Q&A and an artist talk at the gallery.

DELPHINE KREUTER

VIOLENT TENDERNESS: A Mid-Career Retrospective (2019)

I met Delphine Kreuter in 2008 at the Tribeca Film Festival where she was premiering her first feature-length film, 57 000 kilometres entre nous, starring Florence Thomassin and Matthieu Amalric.

I was captivated by the film, and subsequently, the discovery of her award-winning photography. Since then, Delphine was awarded the prestigious Villa Medicis 'Hors les murs' fellowship (2010) enabling her to travel to Libya, Syria and Afghanistan. During her journey, she created a new, startling body of photography

and directed another feature film she also wrote, Dubai Flamingo (2012), starring Vanessa Paradis.

She's now in development on her third feature, X14, as well as preparing her forth monograph of photography.
